A. Chapter held 5 general meetings during this period.

B. An average of 43 members and 10 guests attended the meetings.

C. Chapter Elections were held on March 12, 2008.

D. Our Treasury balance was $3,152.41 as of August 8, 2008.

1. Speakers
a. On November 14, 2007 21 of our Vendor members shared their new products and services to the members

b. On January 9, 2008 Ron Umehira of Kapiolani Community College gave a presentation of their Hospitality Programs. Also, Instructor Palakiko Yagodich gave us a taste of the Ho'okipa Me Ke Aloha courses with hands on demonstration in lomi lomi, a form of massage therapy.

c. On March 12, 2008 Open elections were held for two Board of Directors positions for the 2008 to 2010 term. Elaine Terry and Kaliko Soon were both unanimously elected by the members. The cultural director, Manu Boyd shared the history and inspiration behind the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center renovation project.

d. On May 14, 2008 David Hong of Island Plastic Bags, Inc. shared information on the different types of biodegradable plastics.

e. On July 16, 2008 Frank Haas, Acting Associate Dean of the UH Travel Industry Management Department gave an insightful presentation of our visitor industry.
D. Community Service Chair - Gary Nushida
1. Activities included the following:
a. Providing discarded items such mattresses, linen, terry, and other reusable guestroom items to both the Next Step Homeless Shelter, Goodwill on Oahu , and the Veterans Shelter in Kalaeloa.

b. We scheduled a clean up at the 100th Battalion Center on January 26, 2008. The next scheduled 100th Battalion Center clean up is in November 2008.
E. Special Activities
1. 2007 Bosses' Night
a. Held at the Ala Moana Hotel on Friday October 19, 2007.

b. The theme was "A Masquerade Ball."

c. Our MC David Louis helped keep the flow of the event smooth and entertaining.

d. Magician Mark Allan Mauricio's show Magic in Paradise was both entertaining and comical.
2. 2007 IEHA ISSA/Interclean Convention
a. Held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on October 22 to October 26, 2007.

b. Attendees from Hawaii were Rose Galera, Madeline Chang, John Yamamoto, and Susie Coloma.

c. John Yamamoto accepted the Spirit Award for programming and increased membership on behalf of Ivy Kwok of the Hawaii Chapter.
3. 2007 Vendor Appreciation Day
a. Held in conjunction with our Chapter General Meeting at the Pacific Beach Hotel on Wednesday November 14, 2007.

b. The members and guests were able to peruse the twenty one vendor tables.

c. The main focus for the trade show was to thank the many Vendors that have supported our Chapter throughout the year.
4. 2007 Christmas Celebration
a. The celebration was held at the beautiful Hau Tree Restaurant in the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel.

b. Great food, games, and terrific entertainment was enjoyed by all that attended.
